BDO advised the cybersecurity company secunet Security Networks AG (secunet) with a multidisciplinary team on the acquisition of the Berlin-based cloud operator and expert for managed Kubernetes SysEleven GmbH (SysEleven).
secunet is Germany's leading cybersecurity company and IT security partner of the Federal Republic of Germany. The listed company, based in Essen, supports customers and public sector organisations in the areas of cloud, IIoT, e-government and e-health – including, among others, DAX-listed corporations and federal ministries.
secunet is acquiring SysEleven for around 50 million euros and aims to use the acquisition to strengthen its technological position in the areas of project implementation and managed services. secunet also hopes to benefit from SysEleven's extensive expertise in OpenStack and Kubernetes: SysEleven was founded in 2007 and has been one of the Kubernetes pioneers in Germany ever since. The company has established itself as a leading service provider and, with more than 100 employees, supports over 175 customers from the DACH region as a provider of cloud infrastructure, cloud services, managed services and managed Kubernetes.
secunet was supported by BDO in this transaction: the teams from the Corporate Finance and Transaction Tax divisions, under the leadership of Jan Odewald and Dr Michael Brauer, were able to support the purchase process and the contract design with their professional expertise and advise secunet on business, financial and tax issues.
