BDO experts join high-profile research group on German investment law
The German Investment Code (Kapitalanlagegesetzbuch - KAGB) that was adopted in 2013 had implemented, inter alia, the European Directive on Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFM Directive). The KAGB is now a fundamental part of the financial market law in Germany, containing requirements for all participants in the investment funds as well as their activities. In addition to investment management companies, the KAGB is also applicable to providers of investment services and depositaries. All pooling of capital that is structured as investment funds is regulated, including open-end, closed-end and alternative forms of capital investment.
Five years after the KAGB came into effect, a high-profile research group of scholars, lawyers, asset managers, auditors and advisors has now published a comprehensive commentary on the KAGB as well as other accompanying legal acts. This commentary aims to meet the demands of both science and practice.
The commentary is edited by Professor Heinz-Dieter Assmann from Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, Edgar Wallach from the law firm Hengeler Mueller as well as Professor Dirk A. Zetzsche from University of Luxembourg. Valuation experts Karsten Paetzmann and Bernd Hoffmann from BDO AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft participated in this research project.
