BDO advises evo on the hive-down of its community power- and gas grid
A multi-disciplinary team of BDO AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft and BDO Legal Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH jointly led by Düsseldorf based partners Tanja Cech (BDO AG) and Thorsten Schumacher (BDO Legal) has advised Energieversorgung Oberhausen on the hive-down of its community power- and gas grid to its wholly-owned subsidiary Oberhausener Netzgesellschaft mbH.
Active since 1971, evo has been the local energy services company for the city of Oberhausen, supplying its customers with electricity, natural gas and district heating and providing other energy-related services. evo has two cogeneration plants and a biomass cogeneration plant. All three produce electrical (electricity) and thermal (heat) energy by means of environmentally friendly and resource-saving cogeneration.
Oberhausener Netzgesellschaft mbH has been responsible for the planning, construction and operation of evo’s electricity, gas and district heating networks since 2007 (then acting under its company name evo Energie-Netz GmbH). The company was founded to implement the legal unbundling requirements, according to which energy utilities with more than 100,000 customers must manage their electricity and gas networks through a legally independent new company. Since then, Oberhausener Netzgesellschaft mbH has been operating, maintaining, repairing and expanding evo’s supply networks in accordance with the requirements of the Energy Industry Act and making them available to all energy traders on a non-discriminatory basis.
The multi-disciplinary BDO team provided comprehensive tax and legal advice to evo in the context of the hive-down.
