BDO advises shareholders of HR software company Software4You on the sale to Timegrip Group

BDO’s Tech/Software M&A team advised the shareholders of Software4You, a leading provider of HR controlling and personnel cost planning software, on the sale to Timegrip Group, a Danish software vendor of Workforce Management Solutions (WFM), which has been a portfolio company of Main Capital Partners since 2022.

Timegrip’s acquisition of Germany-based Software4You Planungssysteme GmbH (S4U) marks the third step in Timegrip’s buy-and-build strategy and strengthens its position in the Workforce Management (WFM) software market. BDO’s Munich-based Tech/Software M&A team advised S4U’s shareholders GZ Paul Partners B.V. and Hanns-Dirk Brinkmann on this transaction.

Software4You, founded in 1998, specializes in HR controlling and personnel cost planning solutions. Its flagship product, 4PLAN HR, offers powerful analysis and simulation functions to support decision-making and optimizing budgeting processes. Software4You serves over 200 customers, providing tools for active and up-to-date personnel planning, variable remuneration determination, and organizational transformation. Software4You’s solutions are designed to be flexible and user-friendly, ensuring a high level of acceptance and accuracy in HR controlling. Software4You serves large customers across the world from its headquarters in Munich.

With this combination, Timegrip Group and Software4You form a sizeable player in the HR Tech space resulting in a more complete product software suite for the HR market which covers an extended value chain by adding Software4You’s HR controlling capabilities to Timegrip Group’s workforce management solutions.

Hanns-Dirk Brinkmann, CEO of Software4You, and Helmut Krüger from GZ Paul Partners commented: “A big thank you to the BDO deal team advising us on this transaction. Without them, this deal would not have been possible. We felt in competent hands at all times and were confident that we would achieve our goal together. Despite the typical ups and downs of any M&A deal, the team remained positive and optimistic throughout. Just as important was the team’s ability to consistently take the right decisions while collaborating effectively with our other advisors. Working together was truly enjoyable.”

BDO’s deal advisory team, composed of specialists from BDO’s Tech/Software M&A team, acted as exclusive M&A/financial advisor on this deal.
